Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about joining, privacy, Support Spaces, safety, and optional paid features.

Is Cancer Connections free?

Yes. Registration, Support Spaces, posting, messaging, live-event attendance, and trusted resources remain free. Optional paid plans will add extras without limiting essential peer support.

Who can join?

People diagnosed with cancer, survivors, caregivers, family and friends, people grieving a loss, supporters, and approved professionals may join. Age-range information is optional and hidden by default.

Do I have to share medical information?

No. Cancer type, treatment stage, and other health-adjacent details are optional. Never upload medical records.

How do members meet?

Members meet inside topic-specific BuddyPress Groups. There is no public browsable people directory. Connection suggestions must rely on shared Groups—not diagnoses.

Can someone message me without permission?

Community rules require members to ask inside a shared Group before moving to private messaging. Use blocking and reporting tools if someone ignores your boundary.

How do I report a concern?

Use available BuddyPress reporting or blocking controls and contact the site owner for harassment, exploitation, dangerous claims, privacy violations, or threats.

Are paid plans active?

No. Membership and product pages describe planned options, but checkout remains unavailable until payment processing and fulfillment are fully configured.

Is this medical care?

No. Cancer Connections offers peer support and education—not diagnosis, treatment, therapy, legal advice, or emergency response.

What should I do in a crisis?

Call emergency services for immediate danger. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
